In the morning trading session on August 2, world rubber prices fell due to concerns about trade tensions and weakening demand from major markets. Contrary to the international trend, the domestic market still recorded stable prices.
World rubber price
At the end of this morning's trading session, rubber prices on Asian exchanges fell across the board. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), the August futures contract fell sharply by 1.83%, or 275 yuan, to 14,725 yuan/ton. This was the second consecutive decline, reflecting investors' concerns about China's slowing economy and rising trade tensions.
In Thailand, rubber futures for August delivery recorded a slight adjustment, down 0.01 baht to 72.27 baht/kg. Meanwhile, prices on the Osaka Exchange (OSE) in Japan also decreased by 1% to 316.9 yen/kg.
In Malaysia – one of the important markets for the Asian rubber industry, prices of standard rubber products also fell following the general trend. Specifically, SMR 20 rubber decreased by 6.5 sen to 720.50 sen/kg, while latex prices were adjusted to 571.50 sen/kg.
The main reason is believed to be the new US tariff policy on imported cars from South Korea, affecting the auto industry - the world's largest rubber consumer. In addition, stagnant production activities in China, the world's number one rubber consumer, further darkens the price outlook.
Domestic rubber price
In contrast to the world's downward trend, domestic rubber prices continued to remain stable on the morning of August 2. Many large enterprises in the industry announced prices unchanged from previous days, showing efforts to stabilize the market amid export difficulties.
At Ba Ria Rubber Company, the purchase price of liquid latex remains at VND385/TSC degree/kg (applied to TSC degrees from 25 to under 30), while DRC coagulated latex (35 – 44%) is purchased at VND12,300/kg. The price of raw latex continues to fluctuate between VND15,300 – 16,500/kg.
Phu Rieng Company listed the purchase price of mixed latex at 385 VND/DRC, and water latex at 415 VND/TSC. Binh Long Company listed the purchase price of water latex at the factory at 409 VND/TSC, and the purchase price at the production team at 399 VND/TSC; 60% DRC mixed latex was fixed at 14,000 VND/kg.
MangYang Company also kept prices stable, with latex fluctuating from 392 - 396 VND/TSC (type 2 to type 1), and mixed latex from 352 - 401 VND/DRC.
