* The reason for the prolonged gloomy pork prices is that the epidemic situation has not been completely controlled, causing a large number of infected pigs to be released into the market. In addition, the situation of smuggled livestock products is still complicated while the market consumption is low.
Normally, the end of the year marks the peak of pork consumption, causing prices to increase sharply. However, this year's picture is the opposite, with prices falling sharply but still difficult to sell, causing many farmers to worry.
Commenting on the price of live pigs in the coming time, many livestock farming units predict that low purchasing power along with complicated developments of the epidemic will continue to keep domestic pork prices low until the end of 2023, possibly only increasing again near the Lunar New Year.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Doan, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Province Livestock Association, said that at the end of the year, social demand increases, so pork prices may increase, but the increase will not be significant. The reason is that consumer demand this year will be less due to economic difficulties and low incomes.
