The price of live pigs in the North reaches 60,000 VND/kg, no worries about meat shortage at the end of the year

The price of live pigs today, September 7, in the North increased by the highest 2,000 VND/kg, while in the Central and Central Highlands regions, the price fluctuated in opposite directions.

* Pig price in the North increased by the highest 2,000 VND/kg.

Of which, Phu Tho province increased by 1,000 VND/kg to 60,000 VND/kg - equal to Thai Nguyen and Thai Binh after increasing by 2,000 VND/kg.

At the same time of survey, the price of live pigs in localities including Bac Giang , Lao Cai and Vinh Phuc was 59,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 58,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.

* The pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions fluctuates in opposite directions.

Specifically, Binh Thuan province increased the price to 57,000 VND/kg.

Live pigs in Binh Dinh province were purchased at the lowest price in the region at VND55,000/kg after a decrease of VND2,000/kg. The remaining localities did not record any new fluctuations.

Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 55,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.

* Pig price in the South increased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.

Currently, 57,000 VND/kg is the transaction price recorded in Vinh Long, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg.

After increasing by 2,000 VND/kg, Tra Vinh province traded at 58,000 VND/kg. At the same time of survey, traders in Ca Mau province raised the price to 59,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today is around 56,000 - 59,000 VND/kg.

* According to the Department of Animal Husbandry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), up to now, the livestock situation of enterprises and farms is still quite stable.

Currently, the total pig herd in the country is 28.6-28.7 million. With the current pig herd, it can basically meet the domestic market's demand for pork and pork products from now until the end of the year, including the Lunar New Year.

Responding to the press, Mr. Duong Tat Thang, Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that according to tradition, to meet the demand for pork at the end of the year and during the Lunar New Year, it is not until September and October every year that businesses and farmers will re-herd to ensure the time for selling. Therefore, the story of a meat shortage at the end of the year will be unlikely to happen.

According to Mr. Thang, by the end of August, the livestock situation of businesses and farms was still quite stable.

"With the current pig herd, we can basically meet the domestic market's demand for pork and pork products from now until the end of the year, including the Lunar New Year. In addition, it is forecasted that from the beginning of September, farmers will continue to restore their herds," said Mr. Thang.
