* After a long period of decline, pig prices have improved in recent days, especially in the Northern market.
Some pork traders in the North said that the Ha Nam livestock wholesale market has been quite active in the past two days. Although only a few provinces have increased prices, the areas with prices above 50,000 VND/kg are higher than the previous days and the floor price has increased to 49,000 VND/kg.
According to experts, the price of live pigs has improved thanks to the Prime Minister's direction to local ministries and sectors to drastically prevent pigs, cows, chickens and other livestock products from being smuggled into Vietnam from abroad. This has helped reduce competition in domestic supply, and the recovery trend may continue in the coming days.
Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has sent a document to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities on strengthening the management and control of animal slaughter to ensure disease safety and food safety.
The Ministry said that by the end of November 2023, 32/63 provinces and cities nationwide had issued a Plan to build a centralized animal slaughter network; 463 centralized slaughter facilities (of which some localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Long An, Hanoi, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Binh Dinh... had very modern, international standard invested facilities).
