The price of live pigs nationwide on August 2 continued to record mixed trends between regions. While the North maintained a slight increase in many localities, the market in the Central Highlands showed signs of slowing down and turning down. In the South, prices continued to move sideways, with no changes compared to the previous day.
Pig price in the North
In the North, the price of live pigs continued to increase slightly in many provinces and cities, fluctuating between 62,000 - 65,000 VND/kg. A series of localities including Tuyen Quang, Bac Ninh and Hung Yen adjusted the price up by 1,000 VND/kg, to 65,000 VND/kg - the highest in the region, equal to the price in Hanoi . In addition, Quang Ninh also increased to 63,000 VND/kg after increasing by 1,000 VND/kg today.
Lai Chau, Dien Bien and Son La all adjusted the price up to 62,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, localities such as Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh and Phu Tho kept it stable at 64,000 VND/kg. Lao Cai maintained it at 63,000 VND/kg, while Cao Bang and Lang Son kept the price at 62,000 VND/kg as in previous days.
With this development, the price of live pigs in the North is currently the highest in the country, in which some provinces maintain the ceiling price of 65,000 VND/kg - a price that has never been exceeded in recent times.
Pig price in Central Highlands
In contrast to the upward trend in the North, the price of live pigs in the Central Highlands recorded some slight downward adjustments, fluctuating between 57,000 - 63,000 VND/kg. Localities such as Hue, Da Nang and Quang Ngai all decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, down to 58,000 VND/kg. Notably, Gia Lai currently has the lowest price in the country, only 57,000 VND/kg after decreasing by another 1,000 VND/kg in today's session.
In contrast, many provinces in the region still maintain stable prices. Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh and Dak Lak maintain prices at 62,000, 61,000 and 60,000 VND/kg, respectively. Khanh Hoa and Quang Tri continue to be stable at 60,000 and 58,000 VND/kg. Lam Dong and Nghe An still maintain the highest prices in the region, reaching 63,000 VND/kg.
Pig price in the South
The southern live hog market continued to be unchanged from the previous session, with prices ranging from 62,000 to 64,000 VND/kg. Tay Ninh maintained the leading position in the region with a price of 64,000 VND/kg, while Dong Nai and Can Tho both recorded 63,000 VND/kg. Other localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, An Giang, Ca Mau, Dong Thap and Vinh Long continued to trade at 62,000 VND/kg.
As of today, the North is still the region with the highest pork price in the country, while the Central region recorded the lowest price in Gia Lai. With the current fluctuation range, the market is reflecting a clear differentiation in supply, consumption and transportation conditions in each region.
