This price shows the stability of Vietnam's rice export prices in the first session of the week.
In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam exported more than 4 million tons of rice. The target of 7.5 million tons for the whole year is feasible and can be exceeded.
The Philippines remains the largest rice consumer market, accounting for 42.1%, followed by Ivory Coast (16.3%) and Ghana (10.2%). The Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines expects the Philippines' rice import demand to remain high in 2025, at around 4.35 million tons from Vietnam.
Regarding export regulations, VCCI believes that the regulation requiring enterprises to own warehouses to store rice and paddy before being able to export is inconsistent with the market mechanism, causing costs and limiting flexibility. Not allowing warehouse rental is also considered inappropriate.
VCCI proposed to remove the regulation requiring traders to reserve at least 1,250 tons of rice for 45 days before being granted an export license, saying that this puts financial pressure, especially on small and medium enterprises. VCCI also proposed to remove the regulation prohibiting unlicensed enterprises from entrusting exports to licensed parties. Revoking a license simply because of late submission of a report is considered to "criminalize" administrative violations.
