Rice prices today recorded slight fluctuations in the Mekong Delta region, in which raw rice increased slightly, fresh rice prices remained stable, and the buying and selling market was quite quiet.

Raw rice prices increased slightly

In the Mekong Delta region, the prices of some raw rice varieties have increased. Specifically, OM 380 rice increased by 300 VND/kg, to 7,700 - 7,800 VND/kg; CL 555 rice increased by 200 VND, ranging from 8,200 - 8,300 VND/kg. Other rice varieties such as OM 18, IR 504 or 5451 kept stable prices compared to last weekend. Meanwhile, finished rice at traditional markets did not fluctuate much, with fragrant rice, regular rice and specialty rice remaining unchanged in price.

The fresh rice market is relatively stable.

Rice prices in An Giang and neighboring provinces today did not fluctuate much. OM 18, Dai Thom 8 and Nang Hoa 9 rice fluctuated around 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg. Some varieties such as IR 50404 and OM 5451 had lower prices, but overall remained stable. Purchase transactions in many localities such as An Giang, Dong Thap or Hau Giang were slow, with sporadic buying and selling, showing no signs of activity again.

By-products maintain prices, market stagnates

Prices of by-products such as broken rice, bran and rice husks continued to remain unchanged compared to yesterday. IR504 fragrant broken rice is currently purchased at 7,000 - 7,300 VND/kg, while bran prices remain at 8,100 - 8,250 VND/kg. The by-product market has not fluctuated much, reflecting the cautious sentiment of processing facilities and traders.

Rice exports are stable, prices are still higher than Thailand and India

Vietnam’s rice export prices on July 15 continued to remain stable. 5% broken rice is being offered at $382 per ton, higher than Thailand and India. 25% and 100% broken rice are at $357 and $317 per ton, respectively. Meanwhile, the global market remains under downward pressure due to abundant supply, especially from India, which is actively releasing its reserves to serve exports and ethanol production.
