On the contrary, in Dong Thap and Long An, the market is still trading at a standstill, with no new price fluctuations.

Rice export prices remain stable, low-emission rice opens up new expectations

On June 16, Vietnam's rice export market had no new price fluctuations. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of 5% broken rice remained at 388 USD/ton, 25% broken rice was 364 USD/ton, and 100% broken rice remained at 318 USD/ton.

However, the bright spot in export activities came from the first batch of low-emission rice exported to Japan - a market famous for its strict quality and environmental standards. This 500-ton batch was offered for sale at $850/ton FOB price at Ho Chi Minh City port and could reach over $1,000/ton CIF price at the import port of Japan. This is considered an important step forward, affirming Vietnam's capacity to produce and export high-quality rice, while meeting the requirements of sustainable development.

At the same time, the Chinese market has also recorded a strong comeback. In the first 4 months of the year, China imported nearly 362,000 tons of rice from Vietnam, an increase of 114% compared to the same period in 2024. Notably, China no longer focuses on cheap rice but has shifted to ST25 rice, fragrant rice and sticky rice - products with higher added value, suitable for the new consumption needs of the people of this country.

Sharing about export trends, Mr. Do Ha Nam - Chairman of VFA - said that global demand for high-quality rice is increasing, but Vietnam currently does not have enough production to meet the demand. Therefore, the rice industry needs to focus on developing high-quality rice varieties, especially low-emission rice, to serve the international market and fulfill the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.
