Today, August 14th, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam increased for both paddy and milled rice. Paddy prices rose by 50-500 VND/kg, and milled rice prices increased by 50-150 VND/kg.

The rice market in localities across the Mekong Delta today generally has little high-quality rice, and warehouses are buying quite a bit.

Specifically, in An Cu (Soc Trang), supply is low, transactions are slow, and good quality rice is expensive and difficult to buy. In Lap Vo ( Dong Thap ), warehouses are buying quite well, but supply is low, and prices have increased slightly.

At retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged for individual rice varieties. Currently, Nang Nhen rice is listed at the highest price of 30,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice at 18,000-20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice at 20,000 VND/kg; regular white rice fluctuating around 15,000-16,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice at 20,000-21,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg; common white rice at 17,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice at 18,500 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice at 22,000 VND/kg.

Regarding rice, reports from various localities indicate that warehouses are still inquiring about purchasing dried Dai Thom 8 and Thu Dong rice varieties, with prices remaining high.

In Kien Giang, prices remain high, mainly due to rice nearing harvest. In An Giang , most rice is still in the waiting stage before harvest, prices remain high, and farmers are offering it at high prices. In Soc Trang, farmers are offering high prices, and prices are stable.

Specifically, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, today's rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. IR 50404 rice is priced around 7,500 – 8,000 VND/kg, an increase of 100 – 400 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is priced at 8,300 – 8,400 VND/kg, an increase of 100 – 500 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice is priced at 8,000 – 8,150 VND/kg, an increase of 50 – 200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is priced at 8,300- 8,400 VND/kg, an increase of 100- 300 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is priced from 6,800 – 7,100 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND/kg. Japanese rice is priced at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice at 6,900 – 7,000 VND/kg, and Nang Nhen (dried) rice at 20,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the glutinous rice market remained unchanged compared to yesterday. IR 4625 glutinous rice (fresh) was priced at 7,800 – 7,900 VND/kg, an increase of 100 – 300 VND compared to yesterday. An Giang glutinous rice (fresh) was priced at 7,000 – 7,200 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.

Regarding rice, prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. Specifically, raw IR 504 summer-autumn rice rose to 11,700 – 11,750 VND/kg, an increase of 50-100 VND/kg; finished IR 504 rice rose to 13,750 – 13,850 VND/kg, an increase of 150 VND/kg.

By-product prices today show adjustments compared to yesterday. Currently, the price of OM 5451 broken rice remains at 9,450 – 9,550 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg; the price of dry rice bran remains stable at 7,300 – 7,350 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg.

On the export market, Vietnamese rice export prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice was priced at US$440/ton; standard 5% broken rice remained stable at US$570/ton; and 25% broken rice was priced at US$536/ton.
