Dried water hyacinth price increased by more than 2,000 VND/kg

Việt NamViệt Nam11/08/2023

(HG) - Many people who grow and harvest water hyacinth in Long My district said that in the past 2 months, traders have been buying dried water hyacinth at a price of 17,000-18,000 VND/kg (depending on the type), an increase of more than 2,000 VND/kg compared to about 2 months ago.

The price of dried water hyacinth increased by more than 2,000 VND/kg due to continuous rain in recent days.

Having been cutting and drying water hyacinth for more than 4 years, Ms. Truong Thi Phan, in Hamlet 6, Vinh Vien A Commune, Long My District, excitedly said: “In recent days, water hyacinth has been in high demand, traders have come to buy it but I don’t have enough to sell. The price of water hyacinth is much higher than last year, the reason is that it has been raining continuously for the past few days, making it difficult to dry water hyacinth, leading to a shortage of supply, while the demand for dried water hyacinth as raw material for weaving has increased. My family grows more than 1 hectare of water hyacinth, with the current selling price, when sold, we will earn a profit of about 6 million VND/hectare/crop.”
