The domestic market in the Central Highlands region recorded a sharp increase in coffee prices. Specifically, Dak Nong province reached the highest level at 116,300 VND/kg, an increase of 1,800 VND/kg compared to the previous day. In Dak Lak and Gia Lai, the current price is 116,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,500 and 1,600 VND/kg, respectively. In Lam Dong, the price increased by 1,600 VND/kg, to 115,600 VND/kg.
After a four-day decline, domestic coffee prices have recovered, following the general trend in the global market.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luan, founder of the Meet More coffee brand, commented that although coffee prices are high, it is difficult to break the record of the past time. He also predicted that coffee prices will not fall below 100,000 VND/kg, at least until the end of the first quarter of 2025, when Vietnam still plays an important role in the world supply.
Coffee production has improved while the global economy is struggling, making consumers increasingly price-conscious when shopping, Mr. Luan explained.
"With the current high price of coffee ingredients, consumers should be wary of products with unusually low prices because it is unclear what ingredients they contain," Mr. Luan warned.
Pepper prices remain stable

According to the update from the International Pepper Community (IPC), pepper prices on the global market on January 17, 2025 did not change much compared to before. The price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper reached 7,142 USD/ton, while Muntok white pepper was at 9,231 USD/ton.
The Malaysian market was stable with ASTA black pepper at USD 8,700/ton and ASTA white pepper at USD 11,100/ton. In Brazil, black pepper prices remained at USD 6,350/ton.
Vietnam continues to export pepper at stable prices. Black pepper 500g/l reached 6,350 USD/ton and 550g/l reached 6,650 USD/ton; white pepper is currently at 9,550 USD/ton.
The Vietnam Pepper Association (VPSA) said that although pepper prices have not yet made a breakthrough, farmers are still encouraged to take care of their crops to increase productivity. However, new growing areas need more time to supply the market, leading to a slow recovery of the pepper industry.
It is forecasted that if the weather is favorable, the 2025 crop could yield high yields, creating expectations of "good harvest, good price". VPSA emphasized the need to improve pepper quality to meet international standards, increase value and expand the market.
