The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) said that global pepper output in 2025 is forecast to continue to decrease compared to the previous year. The main reason is climate change and farmers' conversion to higher-value crops such as coffee and durian. VPSA expects China to wait until Vietnam's main harvest after Tet to increase imports.
Reduced pepper supply is expected to keep global pepper prices high, while demand from the US and Europe remains stable thanks to the use of spices in the food industry.
