Durian price today August 19
The durian market on August 19 recorded price increases in many places. Musang King durian grade A reached 75,000 VND/kg. Thai durian grade A has a warehouse purchasing price of over 85,000 VND/kg, while the Ri6 variety has almost no change.
In the Southeast, the purchase price of Ri6 durian ranges from 20,000 to 44,000 VND/kg depending on the type. Thai durian ranges from 40,000 to 80,000 VND/kg. Particularly, the Thai VIP variety, type A, is purchased from 85,000 to 90,000 VND/kg, while type B ranges from 65,000 to 70,000 VND/kg.

Musang King is also purchased quite well, type A from 60,000 - 75,000 VND/kg, type B from 40,000 - 55,000 VND/kg.

Food safety control process
Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture has issued a food safety control process for exported durian. This is a step forward to help synchronize from farmers to businesses, enhancing the reputation of the industry. However, to apply it effectively, it requires a team of qualified human resources and specific instructions for each locality.
Scientists also recommend developing a process for planting, caring for and managing pests and diseases for each region, because each region has different disease characteristics.
Human resources and quality control issues
One current concern is the role of inspectors. Many opinions say that it is necessary to clearly define standards to avoid negativity. If done well, they will not only control quality but also support growers in adjusting production. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association proposes adding rapid testing laboratories right at the growing areas to test soil, water, and fruit before export.
Tighten handling
The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Public Security will coordinate to investigate and strictly handle cases of fraudulent cultivation area codes, falsified export documents or the use of banned substances. With the synchronous participation, the Vietnamese durian industry hopes to firmly consolidate its position in China and expand to high-end markets, aiming for sustainable exports.
