Gia Binh International Airport construction begins, strengthening national defense

On the morning of August 19, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of Gia Binh International Airport with a total investment of 120,000 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, in time to serve the APEC Summit 2027.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Senior General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, emphasized: Gia Binh International Airport is a national key project of international stature, playing an important role in the national airport planning system. This is also a strategic dual-use airport of the Capital region, serving both socio -economic development and ensuring national defense and security tasks.

At the airport, the People's Public Security Air Force Regiment will be deployed with modern, synchronous equipment, ready for combat, contributing to strengthening national defense strength.

The project covers an area of nearly 1,960 hectares, spanning the communes of Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Nhan Thang, and Lam Thao (Bac Ninh). With a convenient connection location between Hanoi - Bac Ninh - Hai Duong , Gia Binh will become a new trade gateway, promoting the development of Bac Ninh and the Northern region, forming a new growth pole.

In particular, the project is oriented towards international ESG standards, carbon management according to Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) standards, striving to achieve Net-Zero by 2050. Main items such as the passenger terminal will be designed according to green building standards, exploiting solar power, reducing emissions and using clean energy efficiently.

* On the same day, in Hai Phong, the locality started and inaugurated 9 projects. Of which, the aviation sector started construction of Passenger Terminal T2 - Cat Bi International Airport (capacity 5 - 10 million passengers/year). The road traffic sector has 5 projects, including: inauguration of May Chai bridge over Cam River and the Dong Viet bridge approach project connecting with National Highway 37; starting construction of the traffic route connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge, Thai Binh River overpass project and the approach road, National Highway 37 bypass through Gia Loc...

In the fields of health, culture and social security, there are 3 projects: inauguration of Hai Duong Obstetrics Hospital Phase II, increasing the scale to 540 beds; groundbreaking of Martyrs Temple and Cultural Park; groundbreaking of Duong Kinh Resettlement Area to serve the site clearance for Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project.

* In Phu Tho province, this locality organized the groundbreaking ceremony of Nam Binh Xuyen Industrial Park with a scale of nearly 300 hectares, total capital of more than 2,200 billion VND.
