Steel prices on the exchange

Rebar on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) for October 2025 delivery rose 17 yuan to 3,235 yuan/t.

Iron ore futures edged higher, supported by strong seasonal demand for the key steelmaking ingredient that countered trade war concerns ahead of looming US tariffs.

The most-traded May iron ore contract on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) ended the day's session up 1.09 percent at 791.5 yuan ($108.87) a tonne.

Benchmark iron ore for May delivery (SZZFK5) on the Singapore Exchange fell 0.14% to $102.75 a tonne.

Steel output is rising overall, higher than last year, brokerage Galaxy Futures said.

Output at China’s blast furnace steelmakers rose for a fifth straight week on March 27, driven by further recovery in steel demand from end users and positive profit margins for mills, consultancy Mysteel said.

Demand for industrial steel will remain strong in April, according to brokerage Hexun Futures, given the manufacturing PMI in March.

China's manufacturing activity grew at its fastest pace in four months in March, driven by stronger demand and robust export orders, boosting sentiment.

Total iron ore inventories at ports in China fell 0.65% week on week to 137.6 million tonnes as of March 28, Steelhome data showed.

On the supply side, total iron ore shipments to global destinations from Australia and Brazil rose 5.3% week-on-week to 26.5 million tonnes as of March 30, Mysteel said.

Other steelmaking components on the DCE rose, with metallurgical coal and coking coal DCJcv1 up 0.1% and 0.65%, respectively.

Steel benchmarks on the Shanghai Futures Exchange rose. Rebar rose 0.32%, hot-rolled coil rose 0.24%, wire rod (SWRcv1) rose about 0.9% and stainless steel rose 0.71%.

Viet Sing Steel, with CB240 coil steel, is priced at VND13,430/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel is priced at VND13,640/kg.

VAS steel, with CB240 coil steel line at 13,330 VND/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar is priced at 13,380 VND/kg.

Viet Duc Steel, currently CB240 coil steel is at 13,840 VND/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel is priced at 14,140 VND/kg.

VAS steel, CB240 coil steel line is at 13,740 VND/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar is priced at 13,790 VND/kg.
