Although live pig prices are trending downwards, retail prices remain high, with some types even approaching the price of regular beef. In particular, there is a type of fatty pork reserved for the wealthy that is always in high demand.
Motorcycle prices are at an unusually low level.
Motorcycle prices in the Vietnamese market are at an unprecedentedly low level. According to An Ninh Tien Te (Financial Security), retail prices for many Honda and Yamaha motorcycle models are dropping by tens of millions of dong at dealerships.
For example, Honda's best-selling scooter model, the Vision, is currently being offered at attractive prices at dealerships. The standard version of the Honda Vision is being offered by dealerships at prices ranging from 30-30.5 million VND (1.1 million VND below the highest suggested retail price and a decrease of 500,000 VND compared to last month).
Some versions of the Honda AirBlade 125/160 scooter model were offered by dealers at up to 1.7 million VND lower than the suggested retail price in mid-March 2025. The Honda SH 350i ABS was priced at 128 million VND, a reduction of nearly 24.5 million VND compared to the listed price...
Pickup truck prices are about to increase.
According to the draft Law on Special Consumption Tax (amended), the tax rate for pickup trucks will increase from 15%, 20%, and 25% depending on cylinder capacity to 30%, 36%, and 54% respectively.
According to the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, Mr. Le Thanh Tuan, manager of a car dealership on Cong Hoa Street (Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City), stated that a standard pickup truck with a minimum engine capacity of 2 liters costs approximately 450 million VND to import. With the current special consumption tax rate of 15%, this tax amounts to 70 million VND. Adding other taxes and fees, the market price for this model is around 650 million VND.
If the excise tax rate increases to 30%, which is equivalent to doubling the tax amount, it would push the price of the car up to 720 million VND.
However, according to automotive businesses, it is still undecided whether or not this tax increase will be implemented, so the pickup truck market may continue to be in a "wait-and-see" state.

Cassava prices plummet.
With cassava prices falling by more than half compared to last year, hundreds of households in Muong Lat district ( Thanh Hoa province ) are reluctant to harvest the tubers because they lack the labor.
Mr. Mua Seo Vu (born in 1973), residing in Nang 2 village, Muong Ly commune, said that his family owns more than 4 hectares of hilly land planted with cassava. Last year, the price of cassava reached 2,900 VND/kg, and after deducting expenses, his family earned about 100 million VND. This year, the price of cassava has dropped by more than half, to only 1,500 VND/kg, sometimes even down to 900 VND/kg (depending on the time).
Faced with the sharp drop in cassava prices, the Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Environment has stepped in and quickly implemented solutions to help farmers sell their produce.
