One of the biggest challenges today is the difficulties in the procedures for issuing health certificates (HC). The transfer of the authority to issue HC from the Food Safety Department to specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee according to Decree 148/2025 is causing stagnation, affecting the export activities of many businesses.
This situation has caused many shipments to be stuck, with the risk of having to turn back or incurring large costs at the port of arrival. VPSA has had to urgently petition the Ministry of Health to resolve these problems, ensuring smooth export activities. If this issue is not resolved promptly, it could negatively affect Vietnam's reputation and export volume in the short term.
Pepper price today August 20, 2025 in the country
This morning, August 20, pepper prices in key production areas in Vietnam did not record any fluctuations. The purchase price fluctuated between 140,000 - 143,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong remained at 143,000 VND/kg. These are the two provinces with the highest purchasing prices.
Other localities such as Gia Lai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau also maintained the price at 141,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Binh Phuoc had a lower price at 140,000 VND/kg.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in the first 17 days of August 2025, Vietnam exported 10,830 tons of pepper, with a turnover of 71.8 million USD. Although the export volume decreased slightly by 0.2% compared to the previous month, the value increased by 2.1%, showing that the average export price has improved.
The US continued to be the largest export market, accounting for 20.4% of total volume, with an increase of nearly 50% compared to July. This shows that demand from traditional markets is still very strong and is the main driving force behind turnover.
