This year has witnessed impressive growth from large enterprises, especially in the context of increasing global market demand. However, the decline in output from enterprises outside VPSA is also a challenge that needs attention to ensure the sustainable development of the industry.

In the world market

At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 6,840 USD/ton, up 1.48% compared to the previous trading session.

Elsewhere, pepper prices generally did not record any new fluctuations. Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper prices remained at $6,275/ton; Malaysian Kuching black pepper reached $8,400/ton.

Vietnam black pepper prices stand at 6,400 USD/ton for 500 g/l and 6,700 USD/ton for 550 g/l.

At the same time of survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper increased by 0.44% to 8,950 USD/ton.

While Malaysian ASTA white pepper is stable at 10,600 USD/ton; Vietnamese white pepper is 9,600 USD/ton.

Many factories in Vietnam have applied steam sterilization technology to process pepper, helping to improve the quality and added value of pepper products. Product lines such as ground black pepper, ground white pepper, pickled pepper, and freeze-dried pepper are increasingly accounting for a larger proportion of the export structure.

The proportion of processed pepper in Vietnam has increased from 15% to 25% and is expected to continue to grow strongly in the coming time. This clearly reflects the increasing demand from the international market for products that meet quality standards, have clear origins, and are certified for sustainable development such as RA, BioTrade, Control Union, USDA, Jas.

Developing deep processing not only helps increase export value but also affirms the position of Vietnamese pepper on the global trade map. This is a strategic direction, meeting market demand and promoting sustainable development for the pepper industry in the future.
