According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), many farmers are now practicing organic farming, using clean and safe ingredients.
In Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, to develop a clean and safe raw material area, many farmers and cooperatives in Chau Duc district have linked up to produce organic pepper, aiming for the export market.
Mr. Ngo Xuan Son – Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Giau Toan Dien Organic Cooperative – shared that most members of the cooperative are farmers who have been involved with pepper cultivation for many years. Thanks to the promotion and mobilization efforts of the District Farmers' Association, 7 farmer households in the district and in Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City have joined forces to produce organic pepper, with the desire to increase the value of the product and move towards sustainable production.
Mr. Ngo Xuan Son further informed that, right from the early days of its establishment, the cooperative had demarcated nearly 50 hectares of adjacent land belonging to farmers in Xuan Son, Son Binh, and Suoi Rao communes to create a raw material area. Participating households had to comply with technical guidelines and strict supervision from the cooperative's environmental control board.
