The central exchange rate between Vietnamese Dong (VND) and US Dollar (USD) announced by the State Bank today (September 13) is 23,995 VND/USD, an increase of 14 VND compared to yesterday.
On September 11, the central exchange rate for the first time in history exceeded the 24,000 VND mark. Yesterday (September 12), the central exchange rate dropped by 24 VND. However, today, the central exchange rate has increased, approaching the threshold of 24,000 VND/USD.
Applying a 5% margin, commercial banks are allowed to trade at today's ceiling rate of VND25,195/USD and the floor rate of VND22,795/USD.
The reference buying rate today is maintained by the State Bank of Vietnam at 23,440 VND/USD. The reference selling rate is listed at 25,144 VND/USD.
In line with the trend, the USD/VND exchange rate at commercial banks today increased quite strongly, with an increase of 63-80 VND, after decreasing by about 10-20 VND in yesterday's session. The USD selling price at banks today all exceeded the 24,300 VND/USD mark (selling).
Specifically, at 3:18 p.m. on September 13, Vietcombank listed the USD price at 23,950-24,320 VND/USD (buy - sell), an increase of 80 VND/USD in both buying and selling compared to yesterday morning.
At the same time, Vietinbank traded USD at 23,912 VND/USD (buy) and 24,332 VND/USD (sell), an increase of 66 VND/USD in both directions compared to yesterday morning.
Techcombank buys USD at 23,986 VND/USD and sells at 24,333 VND/USD. Compared to yesterday morning, the USD price at Techcombank this afternoon increased by 67 VND/USD for buying and 63 VND/USD for selling.
Sacombank listed the USD price at 23,953-24,308 VND/USD (buy - sell), an increase of 75 VND/USD in both buying and selling compared to yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, in the free market, the USD price today (September 13) is commonly traded around 24,120-24,200 VND/USD (buy - sell), unchanged from the previous session.
Thus, the USD selling price at commercial banks is more than 100 VND/USD higher than the USD selling price in the free market.
In the international market, the USD price today tends to recover. The US Dollar Index (DXY) - measuring the fluctuations of the US dollar against a basket of 6 major currencies - at 3:30 p.m. today (September 13, Vietnam time) was at 104.73 points, up 0.01% compared to the previous session.
