In this price adjustment period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance decided to allocate funds to the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (provisional funds from the state budget) for various fuels at the following specific rates: Biofuel 500 VND/liter; unleaded gasoline 700 VND/liter; diesel 300 VND/liter; fuel oil 700 VND/kg.
Accordingly, the selling prices of commonly consumed petroleum products on the market are as follows: E5RON92 gasoline not exceeding 23,258 VND/liter (a decrease of 1,082 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price), 896 VND/liter lower than RON95-III gasoline; RON95-III gasoline not exceeding 24,154 VND/liter (a decrease of 1,395 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price); 0.05S diesel not exceeding 27,651 VND/liter (a decrease of 1,110 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price); 180CST 3.5S fuel oil: not exceeding 20,442 VND/kg (a decrease of 1,041 VND/kg compared to the current maximum selling price).
The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the global oil market during this price adjustment period was influenced by several key factors, including: new developments in negotiations between the US and Iran; continued US attacks while negotiating with Iran, with Iran warning of retaliation; gradual recovery of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz; rising inflation in the US due to volatile energy prices; the International Energy Agency (IEA) reporting a rapid decline in commercial oil reserves; and the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. These factors have caused global oil prices to fluctuate in recent days, with the trend being predominantly downward.
The average world refined petroleum product prices between the price adjustment period of May 21, 2026 and the adjustment period of May 28, 2026 are: 126.218 USD/barrel for RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (down 10.214 USD/barrel, equivalent to a 7.49% decrease); 126.928 USD/barrel for RON95 gasoline (down 12.844 USD/barrel, equivalent to a 9.19% decrease); 146.698 USD/barrel for 0.05S diesel oil (down 8.608 USD/barrel, equivalent to a 5.54% decrease); 655.208 USD/ton for 180CST 3.5S fuel oil (down 66.098 USD/ton, equivalent to a 9.16% decrease).
Fuel prices in neighboring countries of Vietnam on May 28, 2026: Regarding gasoline prices: Thailand 35,464 VND/liter (Government subsidized); Cambodia 34,344 VND/liter (Government subsidized); Laos 39,360 VND/liter; China 35,667 VND/liter (Government-controlled price); Vietnam 24,154 VND/liter.
Regarding fuel prices: Thailand 32,983 VND/liter (government subsidized); Cambodia 34,671 VND/liter; Laos 40,104 VND/liter; China 32,573 VND/liter (government-controlled); Vietnam 27,651 VND/liter. Vietnam's fuel prices are currently lower than those of neighboring countries.
