Oil prices have risen in recent sessions, boosted by supply concerns after President Donald Trump announced a shortened deadline for Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
Oil prices were also supported by progress on U.S. trade deals ahead of the Aug. 1 tariff deadline. The European Union (EU) signed a framework agreement on Sunday, easing concerns about tariffs and boosting expectations for future energy demand.
US President Donald Trump has raised geopolitical tensions by cutting the deadline for Russia to make progress in ending the war in Ukraine to 10 or 12 days.
He has warned of sanctions if Russia does not respond, raising concerns about disruptions to Russian oil flows and tightening supply expectations.

“ Without a deal, Russia could face tougher sanctions from the US, along with the US imposing 100% secondary tariffs on trading partners importing Russian oil,” ING analysts said in a report.
“If implemented and strictly enforced, this would cause a significant change in the oil outlook ,” the analysts wrote, noting that India, China and Turkey have increased their purchases of Russian crude since the start of the Ukraine war. They added that these countries now have to weigh the cost of cheaper crude against the possibility of facing higher US export tariffs.
