The Quang Tri Provincial Journalists Association recently organized the 2024 Quang Tri Journalists Association Open Badminton Tournament. According to Hoang Ngoc Sy, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, this tournament is held annually to commemorate Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day on June 21st. It aims to create a beneficial playground for journalists' branches and affiliated journalists' clubs, thereby improving health and physical fitness for staff and members, and fostering a healthy cultural and sporting lifestyle among staff and members of press agencies in the province.

This is also an opportunity for units and athletes to meet, interact, learn, and exchange experiences, strengthening solidarity. The tournament aims to discover, select, and nurture outstanding athletes to participate in provincial-level sports competitions and press sports events nationwide.

Considered an important sporting event for journalists, the Quang Tri Journalists Association Badminton Tournament always receives attention and positive support from media agencies and many other organizations and units. Compared to the previous two seasons, the third season of the 2024 Quang Tri Journalists Association Badminton Tournament has undergone many changes to improve the quality of the competition.

This has brought a fresh impetus to the tournament, making it more vibrant and exciting with the largest number of participants ever, nearly 50 male and female athletes including journalists, officials, workers, and employees from various agencies in the province, comprising 10 teams with 11 units competing in 5 categories: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

Notably, among the athletes participating in this tournament, there are many talented athletes considered key figures in the badminton movement in various agencies and units, who have participated in numerous city-level and provincial-level badminton tournaments and achieved high results.

According to reporters, the professional quality of this year's tournament was quite high. From the first matches to the finals in all five events, the competition was exciting and dramatic. The athletes entered the competition with the highest determination, delivering excellent and emotional matches, notably the semi-final between athlete Hoang Thanh Su (Dong Ha City Culture, Sports and Tourism Center) and athlete Hoang Kim Dung (Hai Lang District Culture, Sports and Tourism Center); the final between athlete Le Minh (Quang Tri Newspaper) and athlete Hoang Kim Dung (Hai Lang District Culture, Sports and Tourism Center) in the men's singles event; the exciting women's singles final between athlete Truong Thi Luu (Dong Ha City Culture, Sports and Tourism Center) and athlete Hoang Linh (Dakrong District Culture, Sports and Tourism Center); and the men's doubles final between the pair Doan Son - Ho Nguyen Kha (Quang Tri Newspaper) and the pair Ho Dai Thang - Phung Bao Son (Quang Tri Radio and Television Station)...

The tournament also recognized the efforts to overcome all difficulties, clearly demonstrating the noble spirit of sportsmanship and the beauty of sports culture of the athletes, especially those athletes participating in multiple events, and those athletes determined to defend their achieved results...

The organizers of the tournament have also arranged a reasonable competition schedule to create the best possible conditions for athletes to participate in multiple events.

The referees officiated the tournament fairly, objectively, and accurately. In the spirit of shared joy ahead of a major holiday for journalists, the tournament attracted a large audience of spectators and colleagues from various media outlets in the province who came to watch and cheer.

Athlete Ho Dai Thang (Quang Tri Radio and Television Station) excitedly said: “I have participated in 3 seasons and clearly seen the professional quality improve with each season; the organization and management are highly professional. This year's third season was very lively. My teammates and I tried our best to win 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal in the men's doubles and mixed doubles events. We would like to thank the Organizing Committee for their dedication in creating an ideal 'meeting place' for journalists in the area to meet, interact, and express their passion and sporting spirit.”

In a post-tournament conversation, Hoang Thanh Su, Director of the Dong Ha City Sports and Culture Center, shared: “After participating in the 2023 Quang Tri Journalists Association Open Badminton Tournament and achieving many high results, we have identified this as an important tournament, and therefore have paid attention to investing in the badminton training movement at the center.”

We highly appreciate the ability, experience, and determination of the athletes from other teams. We hope the Organizing Committee will continue to maintain the prestige of this tournament within the system of official badminton tournaments in Quang Tri."
