The working environment also contains potential safety hazards such as working at heights, outdoors, slippery surfaces, lack of ventilation, noise, and radiation. Therefore, workers need to be reminded and educated about occupational safety and hygiene to promptly identify and proactively detect potential hazards in the working environment.

Construction sites, shipbuilding or repair facilities... are unique work environments that always pose many risks due to working at heights, outdoors, and operating large pieces of equipment and machinery. Just a moment of carelessness, a careless act, ignoring principles, or disregarding safety procedures can cost workers dearly in terms of their health, or even their lives.

Therefore, nearly 30 workers at the Night Square Project construction site (An Bien ward) always strictly adhere to regulations on occupational safety and hygiene. Nguyen Dinh Hieu, a formwork worker at GM Construction Joint Stock Company, said: “We regularly take tests on our knowledge of safety regulations and equipment operation… Every day, right from the construction site gate, workers are conscious of wearing full personal protective equipment, using equipment correctly, obeying warning signs at the workplace, and absolutely not consuming alcohol before their shift. At each job position, every worker must seriously follow the requirements of the supervisors, because ensuring safety is also protecting one's own health and life.”

Therefore, to enhance risk management and minimize workplace accidents, units and businesses need to fully implement control measures from the source, such as: eliminating or replacing hazardous sources, controlling technical aspects, tightening management, and providing adequate personal protective equipment…

However, ensuring workplace safety cannot rely solely on the self-awareness or initiative of workers; it requires each agency, unit, and enterprise to develop systematic and effective risk prevention and mitigation procedures. Occupational safety and health training has received significant attention and has been implemented in diverse and practical ways in recent years.

In 2025, nearly 335,000 workers across the city received occupational safety and health training as required by regulations. Units also coordinated the organization of 150 training sessions on fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue for nearly 21,500 people. Training in occupational hygiene techniques, hazard identification, first aid skills, and occupational disease prevention was widely implemented, attracting over 196,000 participants.

Currently, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) also need to pay special attention to this aspect. Accordingly, businesses need to establish and strictly implement safety regulations and work procedures; proactively assess and identify hazardous factors in the workplace; and regularly review and inspect safety risks during production. Strengthening and improving the effectiveness of the occupational safety and health network at the facility is crucial to reducing workplace accidents and ensuring a safe and stable working environment for employees.
