Not only limited to traditional April 30th celebration activities, this year the spirit of patriotism is expressed by young people in a more vivid and widespread way.
Dress up with the red flag with yellow star, check-in to spread history
At the Independence Palace (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), Vu Thu Huong (25 years old, Hanoi ) carefully adjusted her white ao dai before entering the frame with her group of friends.
For Huong, this was not simply a trendy photo shoot. "I grew up with war stories from my father - a veteran. Coming to the Independence Palace, feeling it with my eyes and heart, I understand and appreciate history more," Huong shared.
Standing in front of the palace gate - where the liberation army tank crashed exactly on April 30, exactly half a century ago, Huong could not hide her emotions. "I had studied and seen pictures, but when I witnessed it with my own eyes, I truly felt the sacrifice of our ancestors to have peace today," Huong said.
Similarly, Linh Chi (25 years old, living in Go Vap district) shared that unlike normal holidays, taking photos mainly serves the need to "live virtual" and post on social networks, she really wants to spread beautiful images of her homeland and country and express patriotism.
In addition to the Independence Palace, Chi's group of friends also planned to visit more historical sites such as the War Remnants Museum (District 3) and enjoy hot dishes with the April 30 atmosphere such as bamboo tube water and flag cake.
Bustling catering services, national flags in high demand
According to Tuoi Tre Online , in the Independence Palace area (District 1), buying and selling activities and souvenir photography have been bustling for many weeks.
Trinh Minh Hieu, a senior at Ton Duc Thang University, said he uses his spare time to sell small national flags. Each flag costs 10,000 VND. On busy weekends, Hieu can sell nearly 100 flags.
"Although the profit is not high, this job also helps me cover the rent for this month," Hieu shared.

Not only stopping at business activities, many young people also proactively create community services to spread positive images during the holidays.
Nguyen Binh Chau (18 years old, 2nd year student) said that he normally takes photos for service at a price of about 400,000 VND/session. But this April, he decided to put aside his studies and work to spend time taking free photos for people at historical sites in Ho Chi Minh City.
"Seeing on social media that there are many shops renting ao dai for free, I was also inspired. As a communications student, I have skills and want to contribute a small part to spread beautiful images on the occasion of April 30th," Chau shared.
Many coffee shops have quickly caught up with the April 30 holiday atmosphere. Truong Nguyen Minh Ly, manager of Ward Coffee (District 10), shared: "We have designed cakes and drinks decorated with the national flag or with small flags, mainly to serve customers' photography needs. After launching, the cake - drink combo accounted for nearly 50% of total orders."
The shop sells an average of more than 100 portions of cake and 200 glasses of water every day, with prices ranging from 40,000 to 55,000 VND. According to Ly, after the shop decorated the space with red flags with yellow stars, the number of customers increased by about 20-30% compared to normal days.
"In recent years, many young people tend to express their love for their homeland through images, especially when inspired by movies, media and community activities," Ly commented.
