Dinh Yen mat weaving - National intangible cultural heritage, preserved through the hands of Dong Thap women. |
The history of the nation has recorded many images of Vietnamese women who are resilient on the battlefield, responsible in the rear and exemplary in building families, preserving customs, language and rituals. Today, that image is extended in a new look: Women confidently integrate, master knowledge, technology, economics , foreign languages… but still carry in their hearts the pride of Vietnamese culture.
The smooth combination of “tradition” and “modernity” not only creates personal character, but also forms a new generation of Vietnamese women, who are both cultural bridges with the world and “ambassadors” promoting national identity through every action, product, and story.
With the new Dong Thap - the land formed from the merger of the two old provinces of Tien Giang and Dong Thap - the cultural value and economic potential are doubled, creating a colorful picture of people and traditions. This is the place where the culture of the Tien River garden converges, the fertile islands of Tien Giang with fruit-laden orchards, traditional craft villages, Cai Be and Go Cong floating markets... along with the "Pink Lotus" culture of Dong Thap with Sa Dec ornamental flower village, Dinh Yen mat weaving, and lotus products.
Each product, each craft village, each women's entrepreneurial story both preserves the spirit of the homeland and aims for international quality standards, becoming a "cultural language" to bring the new Dong Thap brand to the world.
In the 2-level government model (province - grassroots), the Dong Thap Women's Union at all levels has promoted the strength of the connection between the 2 regions, proactively innovated the method of operation, closely followed the grassroots, and connected the community. From the island and coastal areas of Go Cong to the lotus fields and Sa Dec ornamental flower village, women across the province joined hands to build a healthy and civilized living environment; bringing behavioral culture, solidarity, and a compassionate lifestyle into typical beauty in the integration period.
Dong Thap women are now clearly demonstrating their “confidence - self-respect - loyalty - responsibility” in the integration environment. They take care of their families, boldly start businesses, participate in global value chains, preserve and promote local culture, and make practical contributions to socio-economic development associated with preserving national identity.
Each success story, each lotus product, each Sa Dec ornamental flower basket, each Dinh Yen mat, each Cao Lanh mango or Lo Ren star apple, Ngu Hiep durian… when reaching international friends is like a “cultural letter” sending the message: Vietnam - a country of identity, of talented and kind people.
International integration will not fade the identity if each citizen - especially women - is aware that they are the "keepers" of culture. From the tradition of their ancestors, through the hands, intelligence and hearts of women, Vietnamese values will be nurtured, spread, and become "soft power" to elevate the country's position.
For the new Dong Thap women, it is both a responsibility and a pride to continue writing the glorious history of Vietnamese women in the new era.
