Having been attached to the land of Chieng La for many generations, the La Ha people here always promote the spirit of solidarity, together building a peaceful village, an increasingly prosperous life; preserving the traditional culture of festivals, language, costumes and dances. Ms. Lo Thi Bon, an elderly La Ha person in the village, shared: The La Ha people in Song village and many other villages in Chieng La all live with the Thai people, so their cultures are mixed, and the majority speak Thai. However, old people like us always want to preserve the unique culture of the La Ha people. Especially the Pang A festival, the biggest festival of the La Ha people, with the meaning of praying for good crops, good health, good luck for the villagers and expressing gratitude to the gods and the healers who have protected the villagers.

Song Village currently maintains two mass art troupes. These troupes are not only a gathering place for talented people, but also a “core” of inspiration, regularly practicing performances imbued with the La Ha ethnic identity. The graceful tang bu and scarf dances have become unique features of the Song Village troupe. Each step, each movement tells a story about life, about labor, about love and respect for nature. Accompanying the dances are colorful traditional costumes, highlighting the simple, rustic beauty of the La Ha people.

Mr. Ca Van Tuong, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Song Village, said: Every year, the Song Village art troupe receives 2 million VND from the village and 4 million VND from Chieng La Commune to buy props and costumes. The two art troupes of the village are the factors that help us preserve and spread the La Ha ethnic culture. Especially the art troupe of the elderly, they are the ones who teach it to their children and grandchildren. The art troupes of the village actively participate in exchange activities and perform at many cultural events of the commune. Households in the village also participate in learning the La Ha language, contributing to preserving the ethnic language.
