Preserving and spreading the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers"

Deeply aware of the significance of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, over the years, the Party Committee and Command of the Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard have concretized this through many practical policies, models, and actions. This has created a clear transformation in the awareness and actions of officers and soldiers, contributing to building a strong and comprehensive border guard force, worthy of the title "Ho Chi Minh's Soldiers" in the new era.

Make learning from President Ho Chi Minh a regular practice.

The Quang Ninh Border Guard Command is responsible for managing 118.825 km of land border, with 98 border markers and 176 boundary posts; and 124 km of maritime border with China. The border area spans 33 communes, wards, and special zones, inhabited by 22 ethnic groups. This is a crucial area for national defense and security, requiring soldiers in green uniforms to possess strong political resolve, professional expertise, and unwavering commitment to the people.

The leaders of the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee directly listened to and guided the thinking of the new recruits.

Based on that requirement, the Party Committee and the Command of the Provincial Border Guard always consider studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh as an important and regular political task. This content is linked to the "Promoting traditions, contributing talents, and living up to the name of Uncle Ho's soldiers" campaign in the new era, the "Determined to Win" emulation movement, and the task of building a comprehensively strong, exemplary, and outstanding unit.

Annually, based on directives from higher authorities, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee proactively develops implementation plans; directing Party committees and commanders of agencies and units to thoroughly study and understand the thematic topics on Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style. From 2016 to the present, the unit has organized hundreds of propaganda sessions, attracting nearly 10,000 officers and soldiers to participate.

Beyond mere propaganda and dissemination, the study and emulation of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings have been incorporated into resolutions, programs, and work plans of each Party committee, Party organization, agency, and unit. Breakthrough initiatives are selected based on practical realities, focusing on reforming working methods and styles; enhancing a sense of responsibility; practicing thrift and combating waste and corruption; building a clean and strong Party organization; and building regular, disciplined, and highly combat-ready agencies and units.

After each study session, each cadre and Party member relates the topic to their assigned responsibilities and duties; registering one or two specific actions or areas for improvement. These registered points are incorporated into Party branch meetings and used as a basis for evaluating the quality of cadres, Party members, Youth Union members, and association members annually. This approach ensures that learning from President Ho Chi Minh is not a general practice, but rather a concrete criterion for self-improvement in each position.

As a result, the practice of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings has spread throughout the entire force. Leading cadres at all levels have upheld their pioneering and exemplary roles; officers and soldiers have enhanced their self-awareness and linked personal responsibility to the unit's task completion. The political and ideological battleground has been strengthened; the spirit of unity, discipline, and responsibility has been more clearly demonstrated.

Transforming into action on the front lines.

From awareness to action, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard have concretized the learning of President Ho Chi Minh through their daily duties on the border, border gates, seaports, and islands. Units strictly maintain combat readiness; strengthen patrols and controls; and closely manage the border, boundary markers, border gates, and maritime areas. At the same time, they proactively coordinate with functional forces and local Party committees and authorities to maintain political security and social order in border areas. Thanks to decisive leadership, learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings has become a regular and voluntary activity throughout the entire force.

Officers from the Van Gia Port Border Guard Station, in coordination with other functional forces in the area, patrol the maritime and island borders.

From the beginning of 2026 to the present, the Provincial Border Guard Command has organized 2,834 patrols, with 11,725 ​​officers and soldiers participating in patrols, control, and protection of border sovereignty and security. The unit successfully investigated and prosecuted two cases of illegal immigration and prohibited goods; arrested 11 suspects, seized 6 vehicles, and confiscated 1,364 N2O gas cylinders…

During the same period, the provincial Border Guard Command detected, arrested, and processed 42 cases involving 47 individuals and 39 vehicles; confiscated goods worth over 4 billion VND; and imposed administrative fines totaling nearly 800 million VND. These results demonstrate that learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example has been transformed into concrete qualities of competence, responsibility, and effectiveness in their work.

Besides performing well in managing and protecting national sovereignty, the Provincial Border Guard Command also focuses on building internal unity and solidarity between the military and the people. Agencies and units actively coordinate and implement many practical civilian outreach activities such as: "Spring Border Guard Campaign: Warming the Hearts of the People," "National Border Guard Day," "The Army Joins Hands in Building New Rural Areas," "The Army Joins Hands for the Poor - Leaving No One Behind"; organizing exchanges, establishing fraternal ties, providing community health care, and supporting the people in preventing, combating, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

Through these persistent efforts, the image of the border guard soldier continues to be trusted and supported by the people. Every patrol, every legal awareness session, every activity to help the people contributes to strengthening the "people's hearts and minds" in the border areas.

In 2026, the provincial border guard force also effectively participated in serving many important political, diplomatic, and national defense tasks. Notably, this included the 10th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program in Quang Ninh; and ensuring the safety of preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Through emulation movements and the study of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, many exemplary collectives and individuals have been discovered, nurtured, and commended, creating a ripple effect throughout the entire force. In the first six months of 2026 alone, the Provincial Border Guard had 72 collectives and 113 individuals awarded by various levels; many of these were recognized for outstanding achievements. This is a testament to the spirit of unity, discipline, proactiveness, and creativity of the officers and soldiers on the front lines.

Colonel Vu Van Hung, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, stated: "Learning and following Uncle Ho's teachings has created positive changes in politics and ideology throughout the unit. Building on these achievements, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee continues to direct Party committees at all levels to thoroughly understand Directive No. 05, Conclusion No. 01 of the Politburo, and the campaign 'Promoting traditions, contributing talents, and living up to the name of Uncle Ho's soldiers' in the new era; making learning from Uncle Ho a voluntary and regular activity for each officer and soldier."

In the coming period, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee will continue to link the study and emulation of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings with Party building and rectification; promote the "Determined to Win" emulation movement; and widely disseminate examples of good people, good deeds, good models, and effective methods. Along with that, it will strengthen inspection, review, and timely commendation and rewarding of outstanding collectives and individuals.

Through concrete actions at border checkpoints, seaports, and islands, the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" continue to be preserved and spread by officers and soldiers of the Quang Ninh Border Guard. This is an important source of spiritual strength for the provincial border guard force to successfully complete its tasks and firmly protect the sovereignty and security of the national border in the northeastern frontline of the Fatherland.
