Keep the fire burning in the rear, stand firm at the front line

(PLVN) - Family is not only a spiritual support but also a source of sustainable internal strength for soldiers in their journey to keep the Fatherland peaceful. Small homes in the rear are contributing every day to building a strong army, a humane society and a developed country.

The hidden power behind the uniform

With just a mother’s hand, a father’s eyes and a child’s laughter, a soldier can find peace in a warm home. For them, family is not only a place to return to but also a “soft fortress” that supports the soul and fuels the fire of love during the arduous months of work far from home.

At Brigade 368, when mentioning typical families, many people immediately think of Lieutenant Colonel Pham Khac Thanh - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Brigade and his wife, Major of the National Defense Forces Duong Thi Ngoc Anh - the unit's clerical staff. Wearing the same military uniform, facing the same pressure and high intensity of work, they still built a warm home full of love.

Rarely getting together for meals, the couple raised their children with love and understanding. Being friends with their children, calling them in the middle of the night, sharing about their teammates and the Fatherland, small actions are enough to create a solid family.

“Keeping the fire burning in the home is also a way to fulfill a sacred duty to the Fatherland,” Ms. Anh emotionally shared.

Another example in the unit is Major Vo Van Truong, manager of the General Staff Office.

He did not choose to impose but accompanied his son on the journey of developing his passion. Thanks to that, his son, Vo Dang Tue, won second prize in the board programming competition at NAICHALLENGE in the Hue-ICT Challenge 2025 and third prize in the National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad.

“I don’t force my children to study, but teach them how to listen. I don’t do their homework for them, but help them solve life’s problems themselves,” Mr. Truong confided.

Big rear model

Not only in each family, the armed forces of Military Region 5 also focus on creating a solid rear base with practical and humane support models.

At the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command, the model "Building a Happy Family of Female Soldiers" implemented since 2017 has become a spiritual and practical support for hundreds of female soldiers. With 4 criteria: Warmth, Equality, Progress and Happiness, the model helps women both complete their tasks well and maintain their family. Up to now, 100% of members have actively participated, linking the model with the movement "5 no, 3 clean" and the criteria "4 good".

In areas with many difficulties such as Quang Nam, movements such as "Godmother", "Millions of gifts to share love", "The day my children come back", "Accompanying women in the border areas" ... launched by the Provincial Military Women's Association have mobilized more than 1.5 billion VND to take care of poor children, single women, and military families in difficult circumstances. Those gifts not only have material value but also represent deep sharing from the heart.

Sow love, reap the future

Imbued with the value of family in building the personality of the young generation, Military Region 5 has implemented many practical support programs such as honoring students who are children of soldiers who overcome difficulties and study well, supporting more than 200 disabled, orphaned, and seriously ill children, helping infertile military families...

This year, the program to honor outstanding students was held at Division 2 in a form that combined recognition and practical experience. The exchanges between children and military parents, between soldiers and students, between life ideals and youthful dreams… are ways to sow the seeds of human values, patriotism and community responsibility in future generations.

The program to honor outstanding students who overcome difficulties to study well is organized annually by the Military Region to encourage and motivate students.

Home is not the greatest thing, but it is the place that nurtures great things. In every simple house of a soldier in the rear, in every waiting gaze, every late meal and every word of encouragement after each mission is completed, there is a quiet, resilient strength.

Vietnamese Family Day June 28 is not only a celebration but also a meaningful reminder: Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, don't forget to turn to your family, the source of love, the spiritual support for soldiers to continue to stand firm on the front line of the Fatherland.
