Keep the name of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang High Schools for the Gifted after the merger

Bac Ninh and Bac Giang High Schools for the Gifted will keep their names as before the province's merger, instead of being changed to Bac Ninh High Schools No. 1 and No. 2.

On July 17, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province signed a decision on the organizational structure of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province after the merger (including the administrative boundaries of the two old provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang ).

Accordingly, the two specialized high schools of the two provinces will retain their traditional names: Bac Ninh Specialized High School and Bac Giang Specialized High School.

This decision replaces the previous renaming plan proposed in early July, in which the two schools were expected to be named Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 1 and Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 2.

Mr. Ta Viet Hung, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province, said that keeping the school name is to protect the brand and unique identity that has been built over many years. He also emphasized that this decision was made after careful consideration, with consultation with parents, teachers, students and experts in the field of education .

“The renaming of schools should be approached carefully, based on historical traditions and practical feedback from the community. Keeping the current name will help ensure stability and avoid causing psychological disturbances in the education sector and in society,” Mr. Hung added.

The Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province affirmed that it will continue to focus on improving the quality of training after the merger. Key tasks include: Maintaining the program to nurture excellent students, improving the professional qualifications of the teaching staff and increasing investment in facilities - all in line with the sustainable development orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Keeping the names of the two specialized high schools not only shows respect for tradition, but is also the result of listening to opinions from the education community.

Previously, the proposal to change the names of the two schools to "Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 1" and "Bac Ninh Specialized High School No. 2" caused much controversy and received mixed responses from the public, especially those who have been associated with these two schools with a long history of achievements and educational traditions.

Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, formerly Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, was established in 1993. Bac Giang High School for the Gifted was established in 1991 with the first name of Ha Bac Provincial High School for the Gifted.
