Quang Ngai: Removing obstacles for the 10,000 billion VND pulp mill project.

Although the VNT 19 Pulp and Paper Mill project has reached over 85% completion, the installation of the wastewater discharge pipeline has not yet received the consent of the local people. Therefore, the leaders of Quang Ngai province have requested relevant departments and agencies to urgently come up with solutions to resolve this issue.

The VNT19 Pulp and Paper Mill has a total investment of 10,000 billion VND, and to date, over 85% of the project has been completed.

The VNT19 Pulp and Paper Mill Project, located in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, is invested by VNT19 Pulp and Paper Joint Stock Company. It covers an area of 117 hectares, has a capacity of 350,000 tons of pulp per year, and is being built in Phu Long village, Binh Phuoc commune (Binh Son district), with a total investment of 10,000 billion VND.

According to the investor's representative, over 85% of the project's work has been completed to date; the biggest difficulty and the main "bottleneck" causing the project to be unfinished and delayed for many years is the wastewater drainage pipeline.

Specifically, the wastewater drainage pipeline section of the project has a length of nearly 6,000m, running from the treatment area at the VNT19 Pulp and Paper Mill, discharging into Viet Thanh Bay.

Regarding wastewater treatment processes, VNT19 Pulp and Paper Joint Stock Company affirms that it has fully and seriously implemented them, and these processes have been certified by specialized agencies at the provincial and central levels as fully compliant with current regulations and standards.

Leaders of Quang Ngai province inspect the project.

However, to this day, residents in the area where the pipeline passes through and in Viet Thanh Bay (the final discharge point) still do not believe it, leading to obstruction and preventing the investor from completing the construction and installation work to bring the project into operation.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Huy, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Quang Ngai Provincial National Assembly Delegation, requested that relevant departments, agencies, and units, as well as the Binh Son district government, focus on resolving difficulties and obstacles related to the project.

At the same time, the project investor is required to actively coordinate closely with local authorities to disseminate information; continue to publicly and transparently disclose information related to treatment equipment; pipeline routes and wastewater discharge locations… so that people understand and are aware of the situation.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Huy also requested that local authorities act as a bridge to disseminate information and explain the project, thereby gaining the consensus of the people in the area where the project passes through, in order to quickly complete the remaining work and bring the VNT19 Pulp and Paper Mill Project into operation, contributing to the economic and social development of the province.
