In early June, the northern and central regions of Vietnam are experiencing a severe heatwave. The heatwave in the North is forecast to continue for several more days.
Meanwhile, the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and the eastern part of Quang Ngai province to Dak Lak will experience hot and intensely hot weather from now until June 7th, with maximum temperatures commonly ranging from 35-38 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 38 degrees Celsius in some places.
According to the meteorological agency, after this heatwave, there may be 1-2 more heatwaves in June. These heatwaves could bring temperatures to 36-39 degrees Celsius, and in some places even above 40 degrees Celsius.
Temperature trends for June 2026 across the country are expected to be 0.5-1.0 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average, resulting in more intense heatwaves than average. This trend of more frequent and intense heatwaves could increase the risk of heatstroke, heat exhaustion, forest fires, residential fires, and localized water shortages.
