OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Pro, a $200-per-month subscription plan for its flagship chatbot.
OpenAI has recently launched its premium chatbot package ChatGPT. The ChatGPT Pro version is designed to support engineering and research fields, demonstrating the company's efforts to expand the application of its AI technology to various industries.
The ChatGPT Pro plan reportedly offers unlimited access to OpenAI o1, the company's most advanced and innovative language model.
Additionally, the package also gives users unlimited use of o1-mini, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice, along with o1 pro mode—a version of o1 that uses more computation to provide better answers to the most difficult problems.
According to OpenAI, the OpenAI o1 pro mode requires significant computing power to solve complex problems, so the company decided to charge a premium. o1 will think longer to give the most reliable response, performing better on ML benchmarks in math, science , and coding.
ChatGPT Pro is aimed at researchers, engineers and people who want to use research-grade intelligence on a daily basis.
So, at $200, ChatGPT Pro is currently OpenAI's most expensive plan, 10 times more expensive than ChatGPT Plus.
As 2024 draws to a close, OpenAI is expected to continue to roll out new AI features. According to a report from The Verge, these year-end features could include the long-awaited AI video -generating model called Sora. Additionally, OpenAI could reveal more about “AI agents”—tools that can perform online tasks on behalf of users—and the company’s strategy for 2025.
