When to use Google search, when to use Bard?

The company says users should still use Google search when looking for information, like a store's address or where to buy products.

Meanwhile, Bard is a personality-driven chatbot that can hold human-like conversations and be used for creative collaboration, such as creating software code or writing photo captions.

What's new in Google search?

Google's homepage remains the same design as it has been for the past two decades, and users can search with enhanced capabilities with the new Innovative Search Experience.

The difference is in the answers. If Google recently discovered that general AI could be used to answer a query, the top of the results page would show the AI-generated response. Traditional links to the web would still appear below.

For example, when a user searches for “San Francisco weather,” the search engine will direct the user to websites that provide eight-day weather forecasts. But when the query asks what to wear in the California city, Google will provide an AI-generated answer that includes links to the websites used to provide the advice.

However, the company points out that the conversational mode isn't designed to be a chatbot with a personality; it's just meant to help hone search results. For example, Google AI's responses will never contain the word "I" like Bard and ChatGPT.

Is Google AI ready to experience?

The company said US users will have access to the Innovative Search Experience in the coming weeks via a waitlist. Google will monitor the quality, speed and cost of search results during a testing period.

What about Bard?

The company said Wednesday that Bard is now available to experience in 180 countries and territories, and it plans to expand the service to 40 languages.
