According to TechSpot , Google has just deployed a new system that integrates AI (artificial intelligence) into the Chrome browser to detect fraudulent and fraudulent websites. This feature, called "Client Side Detection Brand and Intent for Scam Detection", is now available in the latest Canary test version of Chrome.
Chrome's new phishing detection feature uses an on-device AI language model to analyze websites on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Processing data locally helps Google avoid privacy concerns, ensuring that users' login information and online activity are not uploaded to servers for processing.
AI anti-phishing feature is currently available in Chrome Canary beta and will be widely released in official versions soon
Chrome's new feature has many similarities to the "scareware" prevention tool that Microsoft recently introduced in the Edge browser. Edge's tool also uses AI to identify malicious and fraudulent websites, but users must manually enable it in the settings. Meanwhile, Chrome's version will be enabled by default when it is officially released. Users can experience it in advance by downloading the latest Canary test build and enabling the "Client Side Detection Brand and Intent for Scam Detection" flag at chrome://flags .
Google also introduced another security feature in Chrome earlier this year that displays a full-screen warning when it detects high-risk downloads. However, users can still bypass this warning by providing a reason.
With more and more AI tools being integrated to enhance user experience and protect users, the competition between technology giants like Google and Microsoft in the field of cybersecurity promises to continue to be exciting in the coming time.
