The third installment in the Tron sci- fi franchise, Tron: Ares , directed by Joachim Rønning, has just announced its official cast. Korean-born actress Greta Lee stars in the film as a technology engineer and CEO of a company that designs computer programs.
Jared Leto plays Ares, a virtual form of a computer program, a character that has been portrayed in the previous two parts. In addition to the two actors above, there are other actors such as Jodie Turner-Smith and "horror movie gem" Evan Peters.

The film's script, written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne, tells the story of the impact of artificial intelligence programs on the world , unlike the previous two films which were only about the fictional world of computer programs.
Prior to taking on the project, filmmaker Joachim Rønning directed films like Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and co-directed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales , which were not critically acclaimed but were box office hits. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil grossed over $491 million worldwide, while Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales grossed over $795 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
The original Tron film, released in 1982, established the fictional foundation for the films that followed, although the 2010 sequel failed to make much of a splash at the box office. Actor Jeff Bridges played a game designer in the 1982 film, whose character entered the computer program and teamed up with Tron. In the 2010 film, both characters returned.
The graphics in Tron 2 , released a decade ago, are visually stunning.
Actress Greta Lee, whose parents are Korean immigrants, has starred in many famous films such as the series Russian Doll (streamed on Netflix), The Morning Show (streamed on Apple TV), and voiced a character in Spider-Man: Across the Universe . Recently, she continued to attract attention with her role in the independent film Past Lives produced by A24.
It's not yet clear when Tron 3 will be released. The film is still in production.
