Ha Giang suffered more than 7 billion VND in damage due to heavy rain causing flooding and landslides.

NDO - According to the report of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Ha Giang province, from the night of May 20 to the morning of May 21, there was moderate to heavy rain in Ha Giang province, leading to flooding and landslides in many localities such as Bac Quang, Vi Xuyen, and Quang Binh.

Specifically, the whole province has 11 households affected in housing, including 1 household in Bang Hanh commune, Bac Quang district whose house completely collapsed. There are 44 households in Kim Ngoc and Bang Hanh communes, Bac Quang district whose slopes behind their houses have collapsed with a landslide volume of about 3,300m3.

Regarding agriculture , nearly 40 hectares of rice, corn and other vegetables were affected by flooding; more than 11 hectares of fish ponds were damaged by floodwaters; many canals and ditches were washed away by floodwaters and buried by rocks and soil.

In many localities, landslides have occurred on many national and provincial highways, causing local traffic jams. Of which, National Highway 279 section through Kim Ngoc commune, Bac Quang district has landslides in 3 places; the inter-commune road Kim Ngoc - Thuong Binh has landslides in 4 places.

Total damage caused by natural disasters is estimated at more than 7 billion VND.

Landslides occurred in many localities in Ha Giang province.

Immediately after the disaster, localities mobilized forces to support families whose houses were affected by flooding and landslides to move people and belongings to safety; mobilized forces and machinery to clear landslide-affected roads to ensure traffic; mobilized forces to clear canal systems as soon as possible to drain water from crop areas.
