After more than two weeks of barricading the "Shark's Jaw" building, on the evening of June 19th, Hanoi City mobilized specialized equipment and workers to demolish the "concrete block" located next to Hoan Kiem Lake. Around 11 PM, authorities used cranes to bring saws and cutting equipment to the top floor of the building to prepare for cutting the concrete blocks.

Because the "Shark's Jaw" building is located on the edge of Hoan Kiem Lake and in the core of Hanoi's Old Quarter, all demolition activities are being carried out cautiously by the authorities. Hoan Kiem District has not yet provided a specific demolition schedule.

Previously, after relocating shops from the first to the sixth floor, in late May 2025, Hoan Kiem district fenced off the building to prepare for demolition. The building is six stories high, with each floor having a floor area of over 300 square meters. After demolition, this area will be transformed into an underground space at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.

Following the demolition, Hanoi City continues to study solutions for developing the underground space around the square; continues to renovate the first layer of buildings on the street surrounding the square; comprehensively improves the technical infrastructure to match the activities of Hoan Kiem Lake, a special national historical site; and adds urban equipment suitable for the functions of the area.
