Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Bach Lien Huong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports - said that the house at 48 Hang Ngang - where President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic since 1979.

This is a "red address" in the heart of the capital, not only marking important events of the nation, but also becoming a symbol of revolutionary intelligence, strategic vision, patriotism, will for independence and aspiration for peace of the Vietnamese people.

In the early days of the August Revolution in 1945, according to Ms. Huong, house number 48 Hang Ngang was the workplace of the Central Party Standing Committee and President Ho Chi Minh.

Here, many important decisions on domestic and foreign affairs, institutions, composition of the provisional government and the organization of Independence Day were passed.

In particular, in a small room on the second floor, President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. This historical document not only crystallizes the thousand-year-old traditional values and the nation's aspiration for independence - freedom - happiness, but also has universal significance, affirming human rights and the right to national self-determination.

The historical space at 48 Hang Ngang is recreated through scientific exhibitions, applying modern technology such as mapping, virtual reality (VR), holograms... with a rich system of documents and high educational value.

This is the result of a serious process of conservation - research - creation, demonstrating Hanoi's efforts in innovating approaches and enhancing the work of promoting cultural heritage values in the context of digital transformation, according to the leader of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

What is on display at 48 Hang Ngang?

The exhibition space is built around three main themes, creating a consistent historical and cultural content.

The first topic focuses on the house at 48 Hang Ngang and the family of the patriotic bourgeois Trinh Van Bo - Hoang Thi Minh Ho.

The exhibition introduces the historical value of the house, depicts the role and great contributions of the family in the revolutionary cause, and recreates the traditional silk production space. This area also has interactive activities such as craft workshops, contributing to connecting heritage with the community.

The second theme focuses on depicting the historical context and the inevitability of the Declaration of Independence . The event of September 2, 1945 not only responded to the burning desire for independence and freedom of the nation after decades of slavery, but was also a historical necessity, affirming basic national rights, profound human values and being consistent with the progressive trend of the times.

The Declaration of Independence opened a new era for the country: an era of independence, freedom and development.

The exhibition space uses modern technology to recreate this important historical milestone. The image of President Ho Chi Minh drafting the Declaration of Independence is shown using hologram technology; the moment he read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square is recreated using mapping.

At the same time, VR technology recreates the appearance of Hanoi in 1945 with old streets, costumes of the capital's people and the boiling atmosphere of the August Revolution, helping the public clearly visualize the country's context at that historical moment.

The third theme emphasizes the significance of the Declaration of Independence and the journey to protect national independence. This historical document is considered a "great text of all time" on human rights and national rights, affirming the sacred and inviolable rights of our people to independence and freedom; at the same time, expressing the aspiration and unyielding will in the struggle to protect that freedom and independence.

To commemorate and pay tribute to the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, the exhibition space at the relic site arranges a traditional worship room for him, deeply recording his great historical role in the cause of national liberation.
