Hanoi will use all green energy buses by 2030

(PLVN) - Hanoi aims to complete the conversion of 100% of buses using gasoline and diesel fuel to buses using electricity and green energy by 2030 at the latest.

The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the Project to develop a public transport system using buses using electricity and green energy in the city.

The objective of the plan is to effectively implement the roadmap for converting and developing green energy vehicles for public passenger transport by bus in the city. Complete the conversion of electric and green energy buses throughout the city by 2030 at the latest.

The specific conversion roadmap is as follows: The 2025-2026 period focuses on perfecting mechanisms and policies to support businesses in converting to electric buses and green energy; expanding the bus network using electricity and green energy; implementing the construction of electric bus and green energy charging stations, including fast charging stations; applying science and technology in management and operation; strengthening communication and propaganda to help people understand and agree. The conversion rate of electric buses and green energy is expected to be 10% in 2025; 20-23% in 2026.

And in the 2027-2030 period, implement the conversion according to the roadmap and complete the conversion of 100% of buses using gasoline and diesel fuel to buses using electricity and green energy by 2030 at the latest; expand the charging station network to ensure efficient operation; expand the electric bus network to increase connectivity and supply capacity.

The conversion rate of electric buses and green energy is expected to be 34-39% in 2027; 47-54% in 2028; 79-89% in 2029; and 100% in 2030.
