The Hanoi Department of Transport has just announced adjustments to the traffic organization for the pilot program of a priority lane for bicycles on the section from Moc Bridge to Yen Hoa Bridge, starting from February 1st.

Accordingly, Hanoi will adjust the traffic organization on the To Lich riverside road section from Moc Bridge to Yen Hoa Bridge, changing it from a pedestrian-only road to a road prioritizing bicycles and pedestrians (a road where bicycles and pedestrians share the road).

Specifically, the bicycle lane is designed for two-way traffic, with a width of 3.0m, and is located on the To Lich River side; the pedestrian walkway is 1.0m wide and is located on the Lang Street side.

The type of bicycle permitted on the pilot route is a bicycle powered entirely by human effort (electric bicycles are not allowed).

In addition, the route will also include 6 public bicycle stations near bus stops and waiting areas; and 1 bicycle station at Station S8 of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Line 3 (there is already 1 public bicycle station at Lang Station).

Bicycles on this route are connected to shared bicycle lanes on other roads such as Lang Street, Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Tran Duy Hung Street, Le Van Luong Street, etc., through intersections (Moc Bridge intersection, Lang Street - Nguyen Chi Thanh - Tran Duy Hung intersection; Lang Street - Le Van Luong intersection; 361 Bridge intersection; Cot Bridge intersection; Yen Hoa Bridge intersection).

To ensure the pilot program runs smoothly, the Hanoi Department of Transport assigned the Infrastructure Maintenance Board to implement the construction, adjustment, and installation of traffic signs and road markings in accordance with the traffic organization notice; and to coordinate with the Department's Inspectorate and other units to monitor traffic conditions and report on proposed adjustments to address any shortcomings.

The Inspectorate of the Department of Transport is tasked with deploying personnel to coordinate with the Traffic Police and other relevant units to organize traffic guidance and ensure traffic safety for vehicles traveling through the area during the pilot period. They will monitor and assess traffic conditions on the route and in the area, promptly identifying, reporting, and proposing adjustments to the Department of Transport leadership if any shortcomings arise.

The Department of Transport also requested Tri Nam Digital Transport Services Joint Stock Company to paint lane markings, install signs, and provide sufficient bicycles at the 7 bicycle stations along the route, ensuring smooth operation during the pilot program .
