Hanoi builds a roadmap for teaching 2 sessions/day for high school level

On August 29, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a conference to deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year at the high school level.

The report of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training shows that: In the 2024-2025 school year, the quality of mass education is relatively stable; the quality of key subjects is of interest to many schools, and the results have improved. Schools have implemented relatively effective innovations in teaching and assessment methods; proactively and flexibly developed and implemented teaching programs and plans.

The teaching staff has made positive changes in innovating teaching and assessment methods, demonstrating a proactive and creative spirit in lesson design and application of information technology. The implementation of the 2018 general education program has been carried out synchronously and effectively, with the program completion rate reaching 100% as prescribed.

Last school year, the city's students took the lead in the national competition for excellent students with 200 prizes, including 18 first prizes. The results of participating in international competitions also achieved impressive results.

To meet the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive educational innovation, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said it will implement a specific roadmap for organizing two-session teaching/day in high schools, with priority given to investment in suburban, rural and mountainous areas where facilities and educational resources are limited.

In accordance with the guidance documents of the Ministry of Education and Training , teaching 2 sessions/day at high school level does not only stop at increasing the study time, but the 2nd session will be scientifically designed, focusing on contents that have comprehensive development significance: foreign languages, life skills, culture, arts, and sports.

Through this, students are not only equipped with general knowledge, but also trained in character, nurtured in spirit and promoted in creativity. The 2-session/day teaching model is not only a teaching organization solution, but also an important step to form comprehensive citizens, confident in integrating into the new era.

Along with the 2-session/day teaching schedule, in order to realize the goal of bringing Hanoi education on par with advanced education systems in the region and gradually reaching out to the world, Hanoi high schools have also identified 6 other key task groups in the 2025-2026 school year.

Schools will focus on building practical educational plans, promoting the strengths of staff and facilities; at the same time, enhancing differentiated and individualized teaching so that each student has the opportunity to develop according to their own abilities and strengths.

Hanoi's education sector also actively promotes modern teaching models such as STEM, STEAM, AI, and project-based learning, helping students proactively acquire knowledge, promote creativity and cooperation.

Testing and evaluation work has also been innovated towards fairness, objectivity, and emphasis on progress. Learning outcomes are not only seen in terms of scores, but also in terms of the maturity level of each student's capacity and qualities.

In the new school year, the capital's education sector continues to synchronously implement solutions to gradually turn English into a second language. Schools will promote a variety of activities: foreign language clubs, "English Day" festival, "Hanoi - City of English" competition, and expand international exchange programs for both teachers and students.
