On the morning of May 23rd, at Phan Huy Chu Secondary School (Thach Ha commune), the Provincial People's Committee organized the launching ceremony for the 2026 Action Month for Children with the theme "Happy, Safe, and Steadfast Children in the Digital Age".
Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Viet Ha and leaders of relevant units and localities attended the ceremony.

Over the years, the care, protection, and education of children have always been a priority for Party committees and government agencies at all levels, resulting in many positive achievements. Programs for children have been implemented comprehensively; the social security policy system has been increasingly improved; many disadvantaged children have received support for their education, healthcare, and access to comprehensive development opportunities; numerous playgrounds and recreational facilities have been built; and cultural, sports, and life skills education activities have been regularly organized.

Despite the achievements, the work of caring for and protecting children still faces many challenges. Accidents, injuries, drownings, child abuse, and school violence still occur. In 2025, the province experienced 20 drowning incidents resulting in 21 child deaths. From the beginning of 2026 to date, the province has experienced 9 drowning incidents resulting in 9 child deaths.
There remains a significant gap in development conditions between urban and rural children. The rapid development of technology and the online environment also poses many risks to children's holistic development if not properly guided and managed. Therefore, the 2026 Action Month for Children is an opportunity for the entire society to better recognize its responsibility towards children; and to take stronger action to build a safe, healthy, and friendly living environment for all children.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Viet Ha affirmed that children are the happiness of every family and the future of the nation. Caring for, protecting, and educating children is not only the responsibility of all levels and sectors but also a sacred duty of the entire society.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested that Party committees, government agencies, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, agencies, units, and the business community throughout the province continue to pay attention to and prioritize resources for the care and protection of children; effectively implement child protection programs, and build a safe, healthy, and friendly living environment so that all children can study, play, and develop comprehensively. Functional agencies need to strengthen propaganda and education on life skills and self-protection skills for children; proactively prevent accidents and injuries, especially skills in handling drowning situations; prevent and combat online abuse and fraud; and provide timely support and intervention for children in difficult circumstances.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also expressed his hope that parents, teachers, and the entire society would show more love, care, listen to, and support children; creating the best conditions for them to live in a safe, happy environment and develop comprehensively both physically and mentally.

At the ceremony, the Ha Tinh Provincial Children's Protection Fund received donations from organizations and individuals totaling over 11 billion VND. On this occasion, the Ha Tinh Provincial Children's Protection Fund also presented 40 gifts; and the Zhi Shan Foundation Taiwan awarded 117 scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
