According to statistics from the independent box office website Box Office Vietnam (with potential for error), over the past weekend (May 8-10) , "The Five-Toed Pig" maintained its leading position on the box office charts, sustaining a streak of three consecutive weeks at number one since its release.
As of the morning of May 11th, after nearly three weeks in theaters (since April 24th), director Luu Thanh Luan's film has grossed over 112 billion VND.

Closely following the weekly box office rankings is "Phi Phong: Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest". After nearly a month since its release (April 16th), director Nguyen Quoc Trung's film has now reached a total revenue of over 192 billion VND, getting closer to its 200 billion VND target, although the growth rate has slowed down considerably.
Last week, another Vietnamese horror film, " Underworld Beauty Salon," was released, but due to its controversial quality and lack of social media buzz, its box office revenue was quite modest. The film, directed by Nguyen Huu Hoang, has only grossed nearly 10 billion VND so far.
Following a vibrant and fiercely competitive holiday movie season, opportunities arose for new foreign films to be released. However, many highly-rated works and sequels to popular series failed to achieve the expected box office success.

Mortal Kombat: The Hunger Games II only grossed just over 7 billion VND in its first week of official release.
The movie "The Devil Wears Prada 2" only grossed over 7 billion VND, including early screenings and advance ticket sales.
Similarly, Detective Sheep: Midnight Murder, despite being quite novel and engaging, also had modest revenue, reaching only nearly 3 billion VND.
Another series with a large fan base in the Vietnamese market is Shin-chan: The Scribbled Kingdom and the Four Unstable Heroes, which was released on May 1st but only achieved a total revenue of nearly 12 billion VND.

This week, Vietnamese cinema has another new release - the film "A Time We Loved " (directed by Nguyen Xuan Nghia) starring Quoc Truong, Quoc Huy, Quynh Thy, People's Artist Le Khanh, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc... but it is considered unlikely to achieve a box office breakthrough.
This period will see a flurry of foreign films hitting theaters, including: Maverick , Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea (new version), Goodbye Gohan, The Korean Ghost: The Man-Eating Lake, Mother Mary: A Lonely Halo, The Haunted Village ...
