Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau gave an overview of the city's socio-economic development results and the potentials and strengths of Hai Phong after merging with Hai Duong province. Over the past 10 years, Hai Phong city has continuously had a double-digit GRDP growth rate and is one of the leading cities in the country in attracting investment with more than 1,900 projects, total investment capital of nearly 50 billion USD.
In the first 6 months of 2025, Hai Phong city attracted more than 1.5 billion USD in foreign investment. After the merger, Hai Phong city's area reached nearly 3,200 km², with a population of more than 4.6 million people. The city's economic scale ranked third in the country, after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi .
Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Karl Van Den Bossche, Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam and EUROCHAM Chairman Bruno Jaspaert all highly appreciated the potential and strengths of the new Hai Phong city with many new resources in terms of area, population, economic scale and will be a new driving force for Vietnam's development.

The Belgian Ambassador and the Chairman of EUROCHAM hope that the city's leaders will continue to accompany Belgian and European businesses; support in removing some difficulties so that businesses can continue to develop. The Belgian Embassy and EUROCHAM will always accompany, coordinate, and support the city in promoting the image, people, potentials, and strengths of the city and attracting Belgian and European businesses to invest here, including investors in the field of high-tech, environmentally friendly seaports...

Comrade Le Ngoc Chau acknowledged and highly appreciated the role of the Belgian business community and Belgian development organizations in the investment process in Hai Phong, including the DEEP C Complex. In the coming time, Hai Phong city will closely coordinate and regularly exchange to realize the work and ideas of the parties; at the same time, commit to always accompany, support to remove difficulties, create favorable conditions for businesses, including European businesses and Belgian businesses to continue to promote investment in Hai Phong.

Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam said that many Singaporean businesses are researching and intending to continue investing and expanding their investment in Hai Phong, especially projects on seaports, industrial parks, human resource training, etc., contributing to the city’s sustainable and modern development. The Singaporean Embassy hopes to work with Hai Phong city to further strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Singapore.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee thanked the Singaporean Ambassador for his interest and investment connection in Hai Phong; hoping that the projects will soon be implemented. Hai Phong City is ready to coordinate and support Singaporean enterprises to invest and implement projects; expand cooperation programs with Singapore in the fields of green transformation, sustainable development and digital transformation, etc.
