On the morning of July 15, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, received the Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam, the Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Eurocham), CTP Group, and the Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam who visited Hai Phong to expand cooperation and investment.

Welcoming the delegations of Ambassadors, Associations, and enterprises visiting Hai Phong, the Chairman of the City People's Committee gave an overview of the socio-economic results of the City as well as the potentials and strengths of Hai Phong after merging with Hai Duong province. After the merger, the area of Hai Phong city reached nearly 3,200 km², the population was over 4.6 million people, the economic scale of the city ranked third in the country.
Over the past 10 years, Hai Phong city has continuously had a double-digit GRDP growth rate and is one of the leading cities in the country in attracting investment with more than 1,900 projects, total investment capital of nearly 50 billion USD.
In the first 6 months of 2025, Hai Phong continued to maintain its growth momentum, with GRDP increasing by 11.2% over the same period; cargo throughput through the port reached over 86 million tons, up 12% over the same period. The city's transport and industrial infrastructure has been invested in synchronously and modernly, contributing to creating an attractive investment environment, attracting more and more large-scale FDI projects.
Hai Phong city currently has 1,900 foreign investment projects from 44 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of nearly 50 billion USD; in the first 6 months of 2025 alone, it attracted over 1.5 billion USD. Currently, Belgium has 8 FDI projects investing in Hai Phong city with a total capital of 743 million USD .
At the meeting, Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Karl Van Den Bossche, Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam and EuroCham Chairman Bruno Jaspaert all highly appreciated the potential and strengths of Hai Phong city with many new resources in terms of area, population, economic scale and will be a new driving force for Vietnam's development.

The Belgian Ambassador and EuroCham Chairman hope that the city's leaders will continue to accompany Belgian and European businesses; support in removing some difficulties so that businesses can continue to develop.
Belgium will always accompany, coordinate and support the city in promoting the image, people, potentials and strengths of the city and attracting Belgian and European businesses to invest here, including investors in the field of high-tech, environmentally friendly seaports.

Mr. Le Ngoc Chau acknowledged and appreciated the role of the Belgian business community and Belgian development organizations in the investment process in Hai Phong, including the DEEP C Complex.
In the coming time, Hai Phong city will closely coordinate and regularly exchange to realize the work and ideas of the parties. At the same time, it is committed to always accompany and support to remove difficulties and create favorable conditions for businesses, including European and Belgian businesses, to continue to promote investment in Hai Phong.
Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam said that many Singaporean businesses are researching and intending to continue investing and expanding their investment in Hai Phong, especially projects on seaports, industrial parks, human resource training, etc., contributing to the city's sustainable and modern development.
The Singapore Embassy hopes to work with Hai Phong city to further strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Singapore.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes to continue receiving the companionship and support from Ambassadors, Associations, and businesses, especially in the fields of high-tech industry, renewable energy, seaports - logistics, and smart cities, which are the strengths of countries, corporations, and businesses. This afternoon, July 15, in Hai Phong, the Investment Promotion Conference was held within the framework of the 3rd Session of the APEC Business Advisory Council.
This is the city’s biggest foreign affairs and investment promotion event of the year. At the conference, the city will award investment certificates and investment cooperation memorandums of understanding with a total value of about 15.6 billion USD.
