An easy way to recognize the development and growth of FDI enterprises is through customs declaration activities. Dongsung Vina Co., Ltd. (Diem Thuy Industrial Park) is a Korean enterprise, operating in the fields of production and processing of film and foam tapes, which are used for lining, cushioning, insulation, heat insulation, waterproofing, shock absorption, screen protection and other accessories for cars, mobile phones and electronic devices serving domestic production and export.
Since the beginning of the year, the total import-export turnover of the enterprise has reached 24 million USD; the industrial production value has reached 5 million USD. Every month, this FDI enterprise has to use about 300 customs declarations but is supported to ensure smooth export activities.
Mr. LEE SUN HO, Head of Sales - Import and Export Department, Dongsung Vina Co., Ltd., shared: We specialize in manufacturing mobile phone components, have high import and export frequency and delivery time is very important. Customs has improved the process, especially thanks to the application of electronic clearance system and digital platform, we have been able to shorten the clearance time, simplify paperwork, and reduce costs.
Also an FDI enterprise, Samju Vina Co., Ltd. also has similar production products to Dongsung Vina Co., Ltd. This enterprise has to use an average of 600 customs declarations per month related to import and export activities.
Mr. Pham Manh Vuong, manager of the Import-Export Department, Samju Vina Co., Ltd., said: We always receive enthusiastic support from Customs officers, so there are no obstacles to the import-export activities of the enterprise.
The feelings of some FDI enterprises have partly reflected the strong changes in the Customs sector in general in recent times. And the smoothness of procedures with FDI enterprises in the area has a significant contribution from Thai Nguyen Customs - Customs Branch of Region V.
At Song Cong 1 and Song Cong 2 industrial parks alone, on average each month the Customs unit receives and processes from 3,000 to 4,000 customs declarations.
In the first 6 months of this year, the number of declarations reached more than 88,600, up 8.7% over the same period. Of which, exports reached 48,652 declarations, up 5.2% over the same period last year; imports reached 39,979 declarations, up 13.2% over the same period last year.
Import-export turnover reached nearly 20 billion USD. Of which, exports decreased by 7.4%; imports increased by 3.8% over the same period last year, contributing 1,263 billion VND to the State budget, reaching 46.78% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance and increasing by 42% over the same period last year.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Head of Thai Nguyen Customs (Customs Sub-Department of Region V), said: The Customs sector is applying strong digital transformation, actively applying information technology to many stages of operation, including: Automating electronic payments, post-clearance inspection, monitoring and managing customs procedures. Especially applying online public services and other activities, aiming to bring Smart Customs and Digital Customs.
Thai Nguyen Customs is using and operating 2 software developed by the Customs Branch of Region V, which are the customs declaration system (VICO) and the business information collection system. Thanks to the supporting software, officers and civil servants working in statistics and reporting; accurately update information about businesses, helping to manage better, avoid risks, and reduce time as before.
In addition, the Customs authority has also deployed the Centralized Customs Operation System (CCES), which helps manage, store documents safely and secure information.
Mr. Phuc also emphasized that thanks to the application of digital transformation, customs procedures for businesses are carried out quickly and smoothly. Thereby reducing time and costs for businesses, making customs activities transparent.
Through innovations in management, especially digital transformation and administrative reform, Thai Nguyen Customs is affirming its role as a fulcrum for FDI enterprises; contributing to creating momentum for growth of the local economy .
