On September 2, South Korea approved a plan to allow logistics companies, which provide services to transport goods from production to consumers, to sponsor E-9 visas for foreign workers amid the country's labor shortage.

Manufacturing companies outside the Seoul metropolitan area with 300 or more employees can also hire workers with E-9 visas, according to an official from the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Previously, only companies with fewer than 300 employees and capital of 8 billion won ($6 million) were eligible. The South Korean government also approved a plan to increase the E-9 visa quota from 10,000 to 120,000 by the end of this year, more than double the number in 2020 and 2021.
Korean employers in the manufacturing, construction and agriculture sectors can now recruit workers from 16 countries in Southeast Asia and Central Asia to work under E-9 visas.
