The festival opens with a palanquin procession from Mau Son Temple, following Ngu Chi Son - Xuan Vien - Thac Bac - Nguyen Chi Thanh to Mau Thuong Temple in Group 3, Phan Si Pang Ward, with the participation of 100 people in the procession team along with the People and delegates.
Next, at Mau Thuong Temple, activities took place such as: Offering tray program of 7 emulation blocks, 6 wards and Hoang Lien commune; incense offering ceremony; folk sacrifice; spirit medium ceremony, practicing the ritual of worshiping the Mother of the Three Palaces...
At the ceremony, Mr. To Ngoc Lien, Chairman of Sa Pa Town People's Committee, on behalf of the leaders and people of all ethnic groups in Sa Pa Town, read a congratulatory message, commemorating and expressing gratitude to Holy Mother Lieu Hanh - one of the saints of Vietnamese folk beliefs; commemorating and expressing gratitude to the merits of ancestors and previous generations who have contributed to building Sa Pa Town as rich and beautiful as it is today...
The Upper Mother Temple is a place to worship the Holy Mother Lieu Hanh and is one of the three famous temples of Sa Pa town, recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic in 2005, closely associated with the spiritual life and Mother worship beliefs of ethnic minorities in Sa Pa town. Every year, tens of thousands of tourists come to visit and worship at the temple.
The Mau Thuong Temple Festival is held annually by Sa Pa town to honor the Mother Goddess worship - a unique cultural heritage of the Vietnamese people. The festival is also one of the activities to kick off the Sa Pa summer tourist season, promoting the beauty of culture and traditional beliefs to visitors from all over the world.
After the Mau Thuong Temple Festival, many activities to welcome summer 2024 will also be organized by Sa Pa town... Thereby, it is expected to create a spillover effect, promoting tourism development with the goal of welcoming 4.5 million visitors in 2024.
