TPO – Not only vegetables and fresh food, but also essential goods are being sent by supermarkets and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City to northern provinces to support people affected by typhoon No. 3.

On September 12th, MM Mega Market Vietnam continued its efforts to transport vegetables and food from the South to the North. Currently, the system has added two more trucks transporting vegetables and fruits from Binh Duong and Lam Dong to Hanoi each day (equivalent to 16 tons of vegetables and fruits). MM Mega Market also deployed its first relief truck, transporting 1,000 boxes of instant noodles and 300 boxes of mineral water from Thang Long (Hanoi) to Lang Son to support the people there.

Ms. Tran Kim Nga, Director of External Relations at MM Mega Market Vietnam, stated that the supermarket has 5 purchasing and supply stations, 2 large warehouses in Binh Duong, and 6 B2B delivery depots. Thanks to this, the inventory can supply up to one month's worth of goods to the North.

The Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Cooperative Union ( Saigon Co.op ) has also increased its inventory for the northern region by three times compared to normal days.

A representative from Co.opmart stated that leafy vegetables and fruits are the items most affected by weather conditions, so Saigon Co.op has increased its supply of these items from Dong Nai , Lam Dong, Da Lat, and some provinces in the Southwestern region. The system has ordered over 200 tons of vegetables including water spinach, sweet cabbage, winter squash, pomelo, bananas, mangoes, etc., from farms, cooperatives, and individual businesses, and will continuously transport them from the South to the North.

At the same time, Co.opmart has extended its operating hours; delivered online orders on the same day; and offered discounts of 10-35% on many essential items to support consumers.

According to a representative from AEON Vietnam, to ensure a sufficient supply of goods and to support people in shopping with peace of mind during the rainy season, the supermarket has proactively planned and worked with suppliers. Specifically, AEON in the North has increased its orders from suppliers by 2-3 times the usual amount, especially for green vegetables, fresh food, frozen goods, and various types of milk.

Regarding fruits and vegetables, due to increased consumer demand, AEON Vietnam transports an average of nearly ten tons per day from Da Lat to the North. “We expect that by the end of this week, AEON Vietnam’s current suppliers will still be able to ensure sufficient supply to meet consumer demand. In addition, we are expanding our supply sources, seeking and working with additional suppliers from neighboring provinces such as Dak Nong and Gia Lai,” AEON Vietnam stated.

The company maintains a production policy with sufficient inventory to supply for 10-20 consecutive days.

Mr. Doan Van Hieu Em, CEO of Mobile World Corporation, said that they are urgently working with suppliers to prepare an order of 10,000 electric rice cookers to donate to disadvantaged people in heavily affected areas so they can quickly rebuild their normal lives after the storms and floods recede.
